Plot summary (spoilers inside!) Newscaster Etsuko's position as the sexy lead anchor who always gets her story the way she wants is the central focus of the show. The incident through which we see it involves a man who has just been fired from the company he's worked for who is ripe
for getting even. To do so, he's kidnapped the company president's daughter and has her hostage in his apartment. He's doing the usual riff of threatening violence and getting his information through the news reports on the TV. Of course, he's watching Etsuko and she's telling him to wait for her to cover the story personally.
Etsuko's not happy with just setting up how she wants the actual confrontation to go down however. There's a real level of cynicism throughout this in how it portrays just about everything but that's really a huge part of its appeal. |
